Mantis In Philly

I got a shipment of rock from TBS yesterday, and I have seen my first Mantis shrimp today. He's about one and a half inches long, and a very pleasing green colour (will post a picture for species ID if and when he pokes his head out again - it is undoubtedly a mantis though). I shall keep him for a while (the tank was three months post-cycle before adding the last 20lbs of rock, so he should hopefully be able to survive my mini-cycle easily), and then I suppose I had better offload him to a hopeful Mantis keeper in the area before I add fish or any ornamental shrimp. So two questions:

1) What can I feed the little dude? I have frozen krill and clams at hand, and my girlfriend would prefer to avoid live food if possible (although I take a less stringent view of this TBH).

2) Does anyone in the area want to reserve him? Must go to good established home etc - no goldfish bowls please.

You can feed him krill or clam, mussel works well too. Ive heard of people feeding them shrimp tail as well. You can use a turkey baster or straw to move the food right in front of him, people also use sharpened chop sticks or skewers to stab the food and put it right in front of the mantis.

good luck

ps
Im not in the philly area but if your willing to ship id be willing to pay for him (shipping cost too i guess). PM me or email me at swarm48@hotmail.com if you're interested

Mine eats anything. I about half and hour form philly depending on traffic, but i dont need one. I have a g. Smithi, which is about that size and i feed him peices of uncooked shrimp. If you have a fuge they are definitely cool to have around.

He definitely eats krill. He grabbed a chunk half as big as he was from the turkey baster this evening - he (or she, dont know) is fairly shy, but not around food apparently. I will post pictures as soon as I can, but its hard to hold a camera in one hand and feed him with the other. I think his/her name is now "fluffy". Not looking to ship fluffy TBH - would need to be a local pickup.
