Mantis & Pistol Shrimp

I recently captured a Pistol Shrimp in my tank, which I thought was a Mantis Shrimp. I had been losing smaller fish for some time, and had to get to the bottom of it. I am now thinking that my Regal Tang may be the killer now, because I have him housed in a 40 gallon hex tank, and I know they can be territorial.

My question is, can a Mantis Shrimp and a Pistol Shrimp coexist in a tank of that size? I am wondering that because of the fish dying, and I have read that Pistol Shrimp don't kill fish. If it is the Regal Tang that is the culprit, I'm afraid to add new fish.
