Mantis Set-up for sale

I absolutely hate to do this, (especially since I just got this thing) but I will be moving soon and I can't take this guy with me. It was a bit of a fight to be able to bring my reef display tank with me, so unfortunately another setup altogether is out of the question. Many of you who were at the swap the other weekend probably saw this guy.

Species: p. Ciliata
Raptorial Appendage: Spearer
Very Active/Interactive
Eats: Pretty much anything, frozen krill, mysis, pellets, and the occasional fish as a treat

Any of you who know a good amount about mantis shrimps know that this species is particularly tough to come by, and it's striking yellow color is something you usually don't see in most mantis species. I am selling the whole setup, so it's plug and play and you have a new aquarium to have fun with:

p. Ciliata Mantis
10 gallon aquarium
15 lbs live rock
deep sand bed
koralia nano for flow
50watt heater
hang on back filter (for both flow and to hold the heater so that the mantis does not attack it)
current USA 2x24 t5ho light

$120 cash for the whole thing
Please keep in mind the mantis itself goes for around $50

PM me if you have any questions

thats a steal.. that sucks you gotta sell your lil buddy, mantis shrimps are so cool. if i had the room id take it in a second. how big is he?

Around 3 or 4 inches. Always up at the glass begging for food when there's people around too! Nice part about it is that it's a spearer too, so you can keep snails and hermits in there for a cleanup crew

By the way, a few people are asking about trades. Trades are OK too as long as it's for corals because I still can have my reef. LPS/SPS frags/colonies will be considered

How safe is he?
Say I want to rummage around in there with bare hands.....
This lighting seems good enough for corals - LPS and softies - any downside?
Where can one find more info on keeping a mantis?

Liz, the lighting is more than good enough for LPS and softies on this shallow of a tank. You may even want to elevate the light a bit so that it's not too much for the mantis. I am actually only running one bulb in it right now. As far as messing around in the tank with bare hands, I've never had a problem. Mind you, I would never go taunting this thing with my fingers... but they are not aggressive towards anything they don't perceive to be prey. Generally just very inquisitive. He's always watching me rush around the house. Definitely no fish with this fella.

I got the no fish thing :)
What has this guy been eating? Does he need live food to stay healthy?

Nope, not necessary to feed live food. He eats whatever I am feeding my reef tank that day: mysis, chunks of rod's food, frozen krill, pellets. He's a pig. I feed him with a turkey baster, and it only took one feeding for him to figure out that the baster means food time! He goes right under it and rolls over like a dog just waiting for the food to come out.

Someone save my marriage and get this PLEASE!!! Heck of a deal but 4 tanks would send wifey over the edge.

I know what you mean Justin....
I'm sorely tempted as well - such a good deal.
Such a beautiful animal.
Hubby is very patient, but I think there may be a limit..........

Thanks everybody for the support! Can't believe this thing hasn't been snatched up yet to this point but it's still available. PM if interested. I can arrange to get out to rochester.
