I am a newbie when it comes to salt water. I bought a 32 gallon biocube already established. the store brought it to my house set it up and said do water test follow instructions to fix whats wrong. Not as easy as it sounded i had no clue what my numbers should or shouldn't be. needless to say mantis shrimp died after 3 weeks i believe she was going into a molt but we kept shining a flashlight in on her in her cave (i didn't know any better) after a couple days i lifted her rock and she had turned pink she died i felt so bad. Since she has pasted i have been working on getting my water parameters right before i get a new shrimp. the lights where set up for me they cycle thru dusk, day, dawn, and moon is this okay for a mantis??? or do they need all moon light or some times NO light? I currently have a chocolate chip starfish, a few red hermits and a few snails not sure the name. pet store said they are good clean up crew they go under my live rock. any suggestions I would be so grateful thank you Joy

There is a forum specifically focused on Mantis Shrimp here so that would be a good start.

Sometimes, even if you do everything right, a mantis shrimp can have a failed molt and die. It happens.

What kind of Mantis was it?

When they are molting that means they are going to be stressed highly during that time. During that time I normally put a towel over the top of the tank and leave the lights off creating a calmer environment for my chiragra.

Normally they are very dirty eaters. Love to take things into their cave and save it for later. This can easily cause ammonia spikes. You need to constantly check that water and make sure it is good. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask in the mantis section.

As for lighting schedule regular is fine that you currently have setup.
