mantis shrimp

there is a forum on here that will tell you all that you need to know and the people are super helpful just go the the mantis shrimp forums.

When I was in cedar rapids three weeks ago pets play house had two small peacock mantis shrimp available.

Do your research before you dive headfirst into it.

i ordered a acrylic tank, and when it gets here i will take my time settting it up.i have wanted a mantis for as long as i can remember so yes i have done alot of research over the years and feel more than ready to get one.

sorry, I'm browsing the wrong forum, but mantis shrimp are SO FUN!!! Fairly easy to care for, feed them snails and chunks of meaty food-go to the seafood section of a grocery store for uncooked shellfish.
IF you happen to find a spearer type, they only eat fish... not snails or the like.

And I order most everything online, good luck!

Mantis shrimp are pretty easy to care for, very hardy, and fun to interact with. Just make sure before you buy that you've read up on prospective species on Roy Caldwell's site for mantis shrimp for aquaria and know what yours requires. As long as you know what the species is native to and that you can provide something similar you'll have no problem keeping them.

If you want to talk to someone who actually owns a Mantis Shrimp right now, contact Ball. I saw the little devil when I went to pick up a Snowflake Moray from him several months back - he's got it in a reef ready 5 gallon tank all alone. Very Beautiful !

Oh, I've had one before... you can look him up here, his name was George, he was part of a science experiement that got me an A in animal behavior class in college ;)

Oh, and FWIW, I'm going with 4" PVC
