Hi!
I am extremely new to this, am in fact preparing to purchase my very first reef aquarium. I've had freshwater before, and I've loved them, but I'm looking to step up to the big boys now
Based on the space available and the research I've done, what I want is a 48"x36" tank, either 24" or 30" tall (depending on price). All glass to be 1/2" thick, and I want the front and right sides to be ultra-clear/low-iron/starfire glass, non-tempered. The back and left side to be non-tempered regular glass, with a tempered regular glass bottom. I want it to be braced and I want it to have an overflow, with the holes pre-drilled.
What I'd like to know is, are there any trusted manufacturers to the long time regulars on this forum? I've been reading and there appears to be an ocean (lol) of knowledge here, so I'd like to hear what you guys think.
I was looking at GC, but after reading so many bad experiences with their workmanship I'm leery of going with them. I've also looked at CA, but I don't get the impression that they set up tanks for reef systems - meaning I'd have to drill my own holes, and I'm not comfortable doing that. Those are really the only two I've given any serious consideration to, so I'm here to ask for some input.
Also, if there are any problems with the tank I want, as I've described it, please let me know. I know I'll make a lot of mistakes on this journey, but I hope to minimize as many as possible, with your help!
