March Featured tank

Its about time to kick off nomination and then voting for Marches featured tank. One idea that came up was to have a theme. Some examples are nanos, soft coral tanks, tanks under 100g, sps tanks. Does everyone like this concept? If so what are some good themes?

I think it might be kind of cool to have some sort of categories.

I agree with everything that has been said so far, but we need to make a decision on whats happening for march. (what category)

Are you considering this for future months or the March promotion?

I think tank sizes should break into , Up to 30g , 30g to 120g , then 120g + , or a similar breakdown . Its hard to put a 12g nano up against a 180g . The equipment , stocking , layout of the system is gonna be drastically different . Ive also seen killer nanos that put some large tanks to shame .

I was hoping to do it for March but it seems we are still too up in the air. I need to get the nomination thread up there tonight to stay on time.

If this is something you wanted to do every month, then I'd make sure you have 12 categories that can be randomly choosen for the year.
Note that those 12 categories should be popular items so as to include as many members as possible and not something as specific as bare bottom tanks with only SPS

Maybe we could have a couple subcategories like: Featured Nano, Mega-Reef of the Month, and "This Old Reef"for members who had a particularly interesting issue they had to deal with. And perhaps a category where members could submit pictures or video clips of their tank's funny moments. In other words, something that more people could get involved in. :idea:
