March Meeting

Thanks, I am feeling fine now. I didn't realize at the time I hadn't eaten for a while and that could have been part of it as well. This time of year allergies get the best of me sometimes. I really wish I could have made it.

the calibration solution, how does that work? I've always just put a couple drops of RO water and let it sit for 30 seconds and adjust to 0 if needed. Is that not accurate? Does that solution work the same way as that?

Thanks,
Steve

You use this solution the same way -- put a couple of drops on the refractometer and make sure the refracto reads 1.026. RO/DI calibration doesn't work so well even though that is what the manufacturer recommends. When I calibrate my refractometer using the 1.026 solution, it reads my 1.009 refrerence dead on, and reads below 0 for RO/DI. If I calibrate with RO/DI my 1.026 reads falsely high (i.e. it reads 1.028 when it should read 1.026). That is why it is better to calibrate with the high-quality reference.

I got there late, but enjoyed talking to everyone again and meeting your wife. That may have been my last meeting here in MTRC... I got/accepted a job offer and start work in one month. Great preparation for the topic, Jack. I appreciate the calibration fluid. You tank looks nice. I'm gonna have to hit Dave up for a piece of thet ORA rose and the manderex;). That rose has some incredible color.

Brian,

Don't forget about Magnesium, too. It has an effect on Ca/Alk balancing.
