The subject for this contest will be... Actinic shots

Please submit your bet shots using actinic lighting only. The pictures can be full tank shots, fish, corals or that really cool looking bubble algae back in the corner by the overflow.

One image per person please. On March 20th we'll close the thread and begin voting. As in the last contest, maximum image size (in the longest dimension) should be 900 pixels, and the maximum file size is 150K. If your photo is chosen as the winner you will be asked to provide the photo in full resolution so keep that in mind. Next November we'll vote on the best photos from each of the contests and choose 12 of them to appear in the 2008 Reef Central Calendar.

Good luck everyone

Here's a question...how literal should we take the word "actinic?" My supplemental lighting is half UVL Super Actinics and half ATI Blue Plus...do I have to turn off the Blue Plus, or for this contest can we assume "actinics" to really just mean the supplemental "blueish/purplish" lights?

We better be able to get away with blue+, seeing as how I don't have any true actinics over the tank right now. :D

Shouldn't it be any light that makes things flouresce?

That's the idea, but ultimately it's up to the folks voting to determine how closely you matched the theme.

Good luck all and let's start seeing some images!

Okay I guess I'm going first :) I posted it before, but it's the only true actinic shot I've got that's decent. Hope you like.

wow hogpark, what an eye!! I love your image! You must have a camera allowing very sensitive settings, to be able to shoot a fish (I.E in motion) under actinic (I.E low light...) Amazing!
