marcoalgae reduce skimmer performance???

Can macroalgae in the sump reduce the performance of a skimmer ?..Since I have got macro im not dumping the skimmer cup nearly as much

It maybe the macros are using up some of the organic matter in your tank so the skimmer doesn't have to work so hard. Or you could need to adjust the skimmer a little.
