Marine Algaefix from API

Since I can't get any kind of answer from API, I guess since I bought it from you, I will try to get the answer here. I bought Marine Algaefix as a method to help knock down a hard to get Hair Algae in a reef based tank until my refugium and GFO can finally remove it from the system.

The problem is the refugium, it has Chaetomorpha in it and I am concerned if I dose this product it will be too broad banded of an algaecide to stop at the specific species the label says it controls. Will this product attack Macroalgae as well?

Thanks for your post and your patience, the product is manufactured to combat nuisance algae, but I am not 100% sure on it's effects on macroalgae to be honest. I'll be contacting our API representative later this morning and get his feed back for you. I apologize for the delay.

Hi,

I am back with an answer for you, I was able to contact Dave at API and according to Dave with the testing they have done on this product, if the product is used as directed the only adverse effects you'll have towards the macroalgae is a much slower growth rate, during treatment it won't kill or damage it.

I would follow the instructions on the bottle carefully, so not to overdose.
