Marine Beta

Does any one out there have any experience with breeding/sexing marine betas or know where I can find some information on the subject?

I have read that they can be bred in captivity and one article in the "Advanced Aquarist's Online Magazine" suggested that they "are probably protogynous hermaphrodites (that is change sex from female to male).

Any info you have would really be appreciated.

Thanks,

Claire

Andy, thanks for the response. I saw that book online earlier tonight, and you just gave me the push to order it. Should be here in a few days!!

Thanks,

Claire

I'm looking forward to purchasing that book, too. I told my wife I wanted it for our anniversary... she just kind of gave me the same look she does when I tell her about a new coral... But we'll see. :D

I can't wait for mine to get here--its supposed to ship Monday. Good Luck with getting it for your anniversary. I don't know if you were interested in the Beta, but I found some good articles in a publication called SeaScope. I would bet there are breeding articles on other fish somewhere in there too.

Wow, Christian, what a great site. Thanks for letting me know about it. There is a wealth of info about breeding there. I'll be reading for days.

Thanks again,

Claire
