Marine Depot Live- Live Arrival Guarantee My @%$&@

I know this is the Marine Depot thread and have read the post on the different staffing, but I'm sure somebody at Marine Depot is getting paid for Marine Depot Live sales.

So, I ordered a Premium Clean-up crew package from Marine Depot Live, everything was alive except a $12 Lawnmower Blenny, which sucks b/c it was the one thing in the package I was excited about. Anyway, they have this great live arrival guarantee, so I call to get the blenny replaced. Well, as it turns out, shipping is not included, so to send my $12 blenny on the 40 mi. trip from LA to OC would cost me $40!!!!! Of course theyââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ll credit my account, which is a great way for customers with DOA animals to order a ton more to make up for the shipping cost!!!!!

Thanks A Bunch Marine Depot Live!!! Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ll be making another order real soon!!!

Read their terms next time. Just like the last person told you to. They did what they said they would, just like the last person said.

What?

What?

"Read their terms next time"? Thanks for the great advise, I didn't think of that. Oh no, wait, that's the "learn from my mistake" advise I'm trying to give to everyone else.

"Just like the last person told you"? I think their reply was, "Cool to know," obviously benifiting from the information a competent reader could exract from my post.

I love how people on these "information" forums are so quick to berate another reefer who's simply sharing an unfortunate experiance.

Nick,

I don't believe it is anyone's intention, at least not mine, to berate you. An I am honestly sorry to hear about the fish, as it sounds like it was very important to you. I just don't like to see a vendor vilified for following their own policy.

Cheers

I know you are mad because YOU failed to read the terms but it's not their fault. If you look around, most live good retailers do exactly the same thing.

A Little Sympathy

A Little Sympathy

Let's not get in a tisk over a man being upset about his blenny. Last time i checked it is common for human beings to be frustrated over a well anticipated lost. I love LMB. They are hilarious to watch and would be even more mad than baller is. So flamron be a little more sympathtic next time instead of ****ing someone off more. Hope you enjoyed getting satisfaction of reprimanding baller. Sure you can hint at that being their policy along with everyone else's but don't be so certain that $40 bucks for a $12 fish is nothing to be worried about. That is insane. And if they are too busy to let the man pick up his blenny then they won't get my business. So in the end let's all take a chill pill and be a little sympathtic. Siders

What about when they shipped me the *wrong* fish. And I mean many different, cheap kinds instead of species that I ordered on a *big* order?

Marine Depot (Live or Dead) won't ever get my business again. Terrible.

You're not alone in having 'issues' with Marine Depot Live. I ordered a Fu Manchu lionfish last week, paying considerably extra for Saturday delivery, only to have the fish show up DOA.

Now, I did read and understand the 'stay alive guarantee terms', but from my point of view, this is a different issue.... in order to stay alive, the fish has to BE alive!

I emailed MDL on Saturday explaining the situation, and asking if they wanted me to return the still unopend shipping bag. It's now Wednesday, and I've had no response. I figure it's a lost cause at this point, because I'm not going to shell out another $55 to ship a $34 fish.

This wasn't my first order with MDL, but it looks to be my last.

David, sorry to hear the lionfish did not survive the trip and for the delay in response. We were a little back logged after the holiday weekend. We have posted an in house livestock credit on your invoice for the fish and added a little extra as well for not getting back to you sooner. The credit will be good for one year. Most of our customers wait until their next order to replace the specimen or use the dollar amount towards something else to avoid any additional charges. Just mention you had a loss and we will gladly take care of you. As always, if you have any questions please feel free to give us a call and we will help you out as best we can.

Thanks in advance,
Robert

Thanks for the response... I'll do as suggested, and just take a credit on my next order. (and there WILL be a 'next' order)
