Marine Ich Solutions HELP

To be objective about this my LFS manager showed me a Black Tang in a display tank that was doing perfectly fine. He told me when they first recieved it the fish was covered in ich but through special care it fought it off. Even though there is still ich in the display tank all of the fish are healthy, including the Black Tang...I dont think he was lying to me

Ich at a certain stage of lifecycle leaves the fish host on design.

They then multiply in huge numbers.

How can fish develop immunity to fight off huge numbers of infestive agents?

Do you believe that any such enhancement of immunity can be so pathogen-concentration independent?

If you understand how ich reporduce, you will be how hopeless it is and how enhanced immunity is very chancy.

If you do not QT now, chances are that either later you will learn the hard way, or be a source of cheap stuffs in Craigslist.

There is only a small chance that luck will be with you always.

To answer your question on that, I personally in pass don't hit the panic button and QT my fish just because it only have a few spots, but when I start seeing it being peppered with it and spreading like recently I had no choice but QT or nuke my tank in HYPO (fowlr).

Please consider the species survival strategy of the ich organism.

I can say it is humility to insignificance so as not to induce a response from the fish host.

Fish has various means to limit exposure, but why would a fish go thru much change in immunlogical response when there has not been a need to do so for hundreds of thousands of years? There is no advantage for a fish to have such enhancement.

Ich leaves the host to nowhere space and then rely on one or two surviving offspringout of thousands to continue the species. This is mass sacrifice of offspring by design. Why? So as to be insignificant, too insignificant to induce a response from the host.

Confinement completely changed this equation.

Enhancing immunity is a fantasy.

Not all pathogens are like ich. Most, like most if not all bacteria, never design to leave the hose and will require a host to fight it off.
