marine safe markers for frag plugs?

I'd like to label some of my frag plugs, but they are a dark color to start with - so looking for options that will show up. When I look at the lighter color options, most are a paint product - which I'm not sure would be reef safe.

Any suggestions/experience with marking darker colored plugs with something reef safe?

White chalkboard chalk should work and should be reef safe as it's made from calcium carbonate. Avoid colours I would think.

I would think any non-metalic paint pen would work.
