I am trying to figure out the lighting for my 150dd build. The tank dimensions are 36"x36"x27". I am wondering if anyone thinks that two AI Sol units would be enough to grow SPS.
I'm using two Radions which probably have a better spread on my 150DD so I'd think three AI Sol's would probably be needed. The problem with the DD's is that the fantastic front to back depth makes lighting a little trickier. I put my Radions on a VESA LCD swing arms to be able to play with the positioning:
You could always go with two AI's and see how you like them and add another if need be.
Sorry, I had to make a comment. I am following this thread as I am going to be upgrading to a 36" cube myself soon. I would be concerned that you would have to raise the ai's really high to workout.
LOL, so minimal there's not even any water which makes keeping the algae easy to control I was just testing the fixtures to see what the spread would be over the 150DD and figured I should throw something in there to get a better idea of the spread which incidentally looked pretty even. I think the AI's are more spotlight-like which would necessitate more than two.
