Marineland 300g...lights?

So I was planning to get a 220(72L x30W x24H) and lighting it with two 400w halides in custom luminarcs with 8x39w t5's around the perimeter....BUT now seeing the price and awesomeness of the marineland 300g(72L X 36W X 27H) i think i will be getting that.

So my question is, what are you guys using on that size tank, and do you think that setup will be sufficient for a mixed reef with some of everything?

tagging along...also in the market for one..I was thinking (2) 8 bulb t5 fixtures, staggered.

I just bought the Marineland Deep Dimension 300 gallon set up, the 72X 36X27 and I am wondering about the lights they show on their home page. They are not out yet or so it seems.
You will not be disappointed in this set up! It is beautiful and the stand is all wood not particle board, very well made.

im just getting the tank and making my own stand.

Im still a bit worried about the lighting though. Im not sure 2x400w will be enough and im trying to keep the system wattage down.

Someone local got one and is using 3x400w's and 3x250w's. I dont want to spend that much money on power and bulbs!:)

I have a 300 gal project underway right now. I am planning on starting off with 3 - 250 XM 10K bulbs in Sunlight Supply Lumen max elite reflectors.

Why not use a 72" MH/T5 fixture? How many openings are on a Marineland top? I would think you need at least 3 MH.

I would also recommend (3) 250 W pendants. Personally, I like the feedback on the Lumenbright reflectors. You may also want to run some t5 supplements.

I left out the 4 - 6ft actinics. I already have this setup running on my 180 with regular spider reflectors.

I dont like using fixtures. I already have 2x400w PFO balast and if need be I have a single 400w blueline balast(magnetic) thats on my current tank now. Im making my own reflectors, which depending on the setup i go with with be 30x30 or 30x18. Im going with 400's since will be using either xm20k's, or reflux12k since I like the bluer color.

and then I was planning to use some t5's to brighten it up, add some par and for when the halides are off.

I think the tanks comes with two braces, but I plan to replace them with acrylic anyway so it doesnt really matter.

My main concern is trying to keep wattage and # of bulbs down to reduce operating costs.
