Im about buy a return pump for the 120 but not sure how much the single overflow can handle. anyone have one of these tanks with the single cornerflo? if so what return pump are you running and how many gph can it handle? thanks in advance!

In stock configuration I would not put more than about 400 gph (after head loss) to it, and that would be the max. I used an Ocean Runner 2500 on my last reef ready and it was about perfect. If you are the bold type you can use one of the Waveline DC pumps which have six speed controls.

I have a Marineland 65g reef ready and I'm almost positive it's the same overflow. I use a sicce syncra 3 rated at about 500 at 5 feet (probably closer to 450 with pipe bends). It required me to ream the vent hole out to approximately 3/8 inch on the drain pipe and put a larger piece of tubing in that hole. Otherwise has worked fine.

Run one as siphon, the other as a dry emergency, and run the returns up over the back

In full siphon, your get more return then using a durso stand pipe

On a 120, that's allot of tank for 500 GPH. I was running my 120 with dual overflows at 1000 GPH, but with my headloss, I was really running at 600 GPH, which is a 5x turnover rate, perfect for flow for sump and skimmer

My 180 is being ran the same way now, just a bigger pump

Go with a Ehiem 1262 , which is 900 GPH, and with head loss you'll be around 500GPH

Or I just ordered a Reef Octopus DC5500 which is 1,450 GPH for my 180

In your case a DC3500 would be perfect, and you can adjust the flow if needed

No on the check valves, they are prone , or just another point of failure
