No doubt it works quite good stripping nitrate. I need to work out on reducing PO4 off the same reactor, so far the result is not so promising.

The dosing doesn't lower PO4? Why not just add some GFO to your mix in the reactors?

I don't believe these blocks will complete the nitrogen cycle any more then what live rock will. Live rock does complete the cycle to a certain extent. If we could get a way with just live rock a lone then there would be no reason to use other means to control NO3. If you expect some kind of miracle from this stuff then you will be let down. I think the best use of it is for limiting the amount of live rock you want you use. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere to have high flow over these blocks but im sure that's so you don't get build up on them. You could over come this with filter socks. With out them I would keep an eye on the blocks and clean them when need be. How much if any of an anaerobic environment you can achieve is up for debate on an 8x8x4 block. Rock gets denser in the middle these blocks do not they are full of holes through out.

I will run some gfo once i setup my bigger sump. Meanwhile, i'm doing some test on my dosing formula to increase po4 uptake.
