maroon and xenia

I placed a large rock of elongated xenia in my tank about two weeks ago. Since the rock has been my maroon has biten off just about all the heads. AS of 3 days ago I noticed he had 3 small white spots on his head close to his mouth.

Can xenia sting? or is there a better chance its ich?

The only new thing that has been introduced in my tank is the xenia.

Xenia are not known to sting; but you might be grateful of your Maroon; Xenia is an awfully invasive coral and will over run your tank in time. Be forewarned!
