If the GSM is hosting(an anemone), will it continue to move sand?

I am tired of my GSM moving sand and she is very difficult to get out of the tank. I am hoping that if she is hosting, she will forget about the sand.

Yes, She will continue to move sand & anything you put near her now.

I have 2 and I Have a true LOVE / HATE Relationship with them lol.

Big old Tomato Clowns do the same, every few days she decides to move sand away from the anemone. Any rock or corals I place in her area also get moved/flipped over.

Maroons and Tomato clowns only seem to get worse with age. Mine got worse once I got the Anemone to host in.

Some people claim you can pile some rocks where she is moving the sand. Although in my case the Tomato would then just move the rock, and she doesn't care if she picks it up and drops it on nice frags or corals either.

It's a love hate relationship between my Tomato and myself too.

I have a GSM clown that has been moving corals placed near the hammer coral it hosts currently. Major PITA, plus the fact it tries to bite me everytime my hand comes close to the hammer. I have to use a net or something to run interference for me while I have my hand in the tank to avoid getting bit...

My Maroon also moves the sand near its RBTA, right down to the glass. She's not aggressive with my other fish though. And I have some corals nearby that he doesn't bother.

Mine also moves sand and corals, big ones too. Also chases other fish away. It really was bugging me for a while and then I just learned to not put anything near the anemone but the sand is still moving. Some of my other fish move sand too.

Mine did the same after I put the nem' in the tank. I tapped it on the back with a chopstick and it stopped doing it. Took a week for him to understand I'm hitting him cuz he bites me lol. He stopped though which is great, It didn't hurt it just was kind of annoying lol

I had the same problem. Sort of a catch 22. My nem wouldn't live anywhere except right on the bottom of my live rock, just above the sand bed. The clown would just spend all day cleaning house... at least until she got to glass at the bottom... :strange:

All of my maroon pairs do this too, even with bare bottom tanks. They are just doing a little house cleaning.:spin3:

mine no longer acts out against the sand or coral, i just kept putting rocks in her way and of course she tried to lift them but couldnt and since has givin up and just relaxes in her anem
