Maroon Clownfish

"cuties"??? Yours must be a juvenile.
Mine used to like me to toss in an alligator a couple of times a week.

Seriously, they don't require any live foods IMHO. A variety of frozen foods is good.

Yes they are very young at the moment. The larger one is around 1.5" and the smaller is maybe 1". I did go out and get some mysis shrimp. They really seem to like that. I only fed them a tad and they are wanting more, but I'll wait until tomorrow.

I also have a pair of maroon in my reef tank. I want to let them spawn, but I worry about the water get to bed for feeding a lot of food. Do you have good idea about both pollutionfree and feeding food eough? thanks

I had to say, this made me LOL! I imagine my female gsm would appreciate this kind of meal too.

I don't feed mine live food, other than the occasional amphipod I fish out of the filter sock. I did accidently feed her a pistol shrimp once though. I was rinsing some LR looking for a mean hitch-hiker crab I'd been chasing, and the pistol shrimp emerged. I just tossed it back in the tank only to see the female clown gobble it down. :(

Oh my gosh! I wouldn't have expected that. Just goes to show my alligator theory is right ;)

I'll feed mine live brine shrimp on occassion. It's not as nutritious as other foods, but I like the idea of giving my guys something live from time to time. Mysis works great, but mine seems to go even crazier for Formula 2 (I have a tang as well). I think that's just because that's what she was fed at the LFS. I also make a homemade concoction that has a little bit of everything from fish to shrimp to krill with some vitamin supplements.

dry foods will not pollute a tank as much as frozen. I find I have more time to experiment with how much I can feed.

I swear that feeding freeze-dried cyclopeeze is what got my pairs spawning. I started feeding it to the maroons first and they started spawning within just a few weeks. Then I thought to try it on the percs and the same thing happened. It may be coincidence, but that's the only thing I've been able to pinpoint. Otherwise, I feed formula one and prime reef flake and occasionally a homemade frozen seafood blend.

Same with my B&W, once I was finally bit, I put him an a breeding net until I finished all the tank work. He hated me for weeks.

I drive the female in corner or back rock. make it cannot look me or hard to out of there. she is always hanged the net by her gill when I catch her with net

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to mine growing out of the cute phase. So far, she's actually been quite docile, but if my hand stays too close to her anemone, she has no problems letting me know she's not happy about it.

Yes, that's right but if we used the word "hesitate", would would not say "unhesitate"-- we'd say "she doesn't hesitate"

HTH :)
