Mars aqua lens removal

I just ordered a MA eBay light 165w. For my 29 gallon tanks.it's about 30 inches.I see some guys like to take lens off for better light spread.has anyone done this or have exp. With this. It looks easy to do.that's not really my issue.I just don't want to start. Messing up a new light if it's unnecessary. Thx for any input.

I did it on the reds and greens. You just remove the screws around the sides that hold the box together, and then grab the lenses you want gone and yank them off. Theyre held on with glue. Then you put the box back together.

You can do it at anytime. Feel free to hang them, and then if you feel like you need more spread just open them up.

Yeah I saw how to take them off.looks easy enough.I guess I'm asking if I should remove them.maybe only I can answer that question for myse. would I be correct in saying removing them will spread light better but give less penetration? At equal power.what is the advantage of removing certain colors?I have standard 29 gallon 30 inch L. I think 18 deep.I'm thinking with only one of these spread may be more imp. Than penetration.

I just didn't like how the reds and greens were spotlighting. Like, a couple caves were catching it just right and looking weird. I don't really know how it would affect the other stuff. I do think too much spread would be annoying on my tank since it's next to a couch, I wouldn't like the light shining in my eyes.
