MARS Frag Swap 4.0 - Madison, WI 1/27/08

We would like to announce the Madison Area Reef Society's 4th annual frag swap to be held in Madison, Wisconsin this coming January. Your entire club is cordially invited to attend. The swap will be held Sunday, January 27th, 2008 from 12-3 pm. Location TBA.

As in past years, the swap will be open to anyone who would like to attend and will feature local and regional vendors, coral propagators and hobbyists all selling and/or swapping their corals. We will be asking for a donation at the door of $5.

Last year we had over 150 people from all over the midwest attend and this years event should be even larger. There will be door prizes and a beginner's fragging demo (with some free starter frags going out to the audience!!!) at the end of the swap.

Location pending, its probably going to be in the same place as last year's swap. We will update this thread with more details as they become available. You can also check out our club forum and swap info at:

To be able to attend this, do you have to trade frags, or can a person come to purchase them. My wife and I are trying to stock our 55 a little more.

Some updated info on our swap:

MARS Fragswap 4.0
The swap will be held Sunday, January 27th from 1-3 pm at the warehouse of Silver Stone Construction. The location is 3432 County Rd N # B, Cottage Grove, WI just off highway 12/14 (beltline in Madison). The swap will open at 11 am for swapper and vendor setup. From 12-1 pm, swappers will have a chance to trade with other swappers, check out whats available from vendors etc. At 1 pm the swap will open to all and run for two hours (1-3). At 3 pm we will have a beginner's fragging demo and propgation workshop with some of the resulting frags being given away at the end (yay!). We are again going to ask for a $5 donation from swappers (families/friends being dragged along are free but the entry gets you the door prize ticket ) to again split towards reef conservation, securing a space next year/renting tables and supporting the MARS website. There will be some nice door prizes (we are still looking for folks to volunteer to contact vendors on our behalf, check out Bob's donation thread to see where/who we have already asked).

Vendors and swappers should contact me either via email (meisenhandler at gmail dot com) or pm to reserve space (hobbyists are free, vendors are asked to donate a reasonable door prize to the swap as an entry fee). There will be a limited number of tables and spaces though if we know you are coming, we can look into renting more tables. If you need electricity at your space, please plan on bringing an extension cord and power strip if needed. We are not currently planning on having salt water available.

I will have quite a few nice LPS (acans, chalices and a few brains) available and I know several other swappers who are pretty into them as well.
