I know this thread has gotten out of hand, and probably really off topic - and I am probably to blame for some of this. However, I wanted to say thank you for your efforts. I think we all in MARS have recognized the contributions you have made.

I honestly wish we had more of an opportunity to get to know each other during your tenure, but honestly, you scared the **** out of me. When I first started with MARS, hearing you speak on the Q+A so authoritatively, I thought: "Wow, this guy really know his reef" even if I had a differing view. This can be good and bad at the same time when trying to facilitate a discussion and get honest feedback from participants. To some this can make you seem unapproachable, even though you have obviously proven the opposite. I don't think Paul, or anybody, tried to flame you here regarding the Q+A - they simply stated an opinion. But combative responses only further makes great dialog nearly impossible to achieve, and strengthened the misconception of you being unapproachable.

For the sake of all of us, Paul has extended an olive branch and has explained his POV as a miscommunication or translation of what was meant by his words. Please take it and lets move forward. I want to see you and everyone else in MARS back at the meetings and helping out. I think it would be a shame if so many years of experience were to be lost to us for something seemingly so trivial.

Hey Mike

I've always thought the meeting minutes should be kept in members forum. It seems like the last time we discussed that in a board meeting we decided not to do it. Some of the board members were concerned that publishing the financial reports that go into the minutes would make the club a target for legal actions. I think the benefit of publishing the minutes out weighs that particular negative.

In any case, Mike, if you'd like to bring it up again you have my vote.

Mark, the general club business meetings are open to the public and I really encourage folks to attend to learn more about what is going on. The monthly meeting minutes are posted on the BOG private forum. I am actively working on getting an approved version over in the general forum on the MARS website on a go forward basis.

Sorry if my posts came off strong. When i orifginally read your postings my first thoughts were,"This guy is trying to start stuff".

As i have gone through and reread them i see that was not your intention so i want to apologize for iassuming that was your motive!
