HI Everyone:
Just a reminder that this Saturday, October 14 at 6:30 PM is MASLAC's October meeting! Our meeting will be at our usual location, Salads Galore in Encino. See our website (www.maslac.org) for more location information.
The meeting will kick off with Tom Clark discussing his aquarium in our "Featured Member's Aquarium" for the month! Tom is an advanced aquarist, and we're certainly looking forward to seeing his system for the first time!
Next, our Special guest will be Sarah Lardizabal, speaking on Seagrasses and Lagoon Aquarium Systems. Sarah, who goes by the handle "Samala" on Reef Central, has authored several articles on the identification, selection, husbandry of Seagrasses for aquariums in Reef Keeping, Conscientious Aquarist, and other publications. She is widely agreed to be one of the most experienced seagrass keepers in the hobby today, and has mentored many fellow hobbyists with their efforts at keeping these unique plants in marine aquariums.
Sarah is a Lagoon Naturalist at the Brevard Zoo in Melbourne Florida, and will share her unique insights on seagrasses in the wild and captive environment! Don't miss this unique presentation, which is sure to inspire you to try growing some seagrasses in your own aquarium! Yep- there IS more to a "reef aquarium" than just coral! October is also the month to "throw your hat in the ring", and announce your intentions to run for an office at MASLAC for 2007. All positions are available, and all paid MASLAC members in good standing are eligible to run for an office! Don't be shy to step up and help guide MASLAC to a successful 2007! Feel free to contact any MASLAC Board member if you have questions about the positions available. Elections will be held at the November meeting.
Finally- we'll wrap up the meeting with our always-spectacular raffle! We have some super items available as always, so don't be shy-purchase a few tickets and see what you can win!
Coming up at MASLAC- Adam Blundell in November, a visit to a wholesaler in December, along with our special Holiday meeting/workshop with Tulio Del Aquila, where you will be able to build your very own moonlight!
There's a whole lot goin' on at MASLAC this Fall- be a part of it!
