MASNA 2007 Photo Contest!

MASNA 2007 PHOTO CONTEST

The Marine Aquarium Societies of North America, Inc. (MASNA) is proud to be sponsoring its Photo Contest for a third year!


The contest includes the following four categories and is being judged by four internationally recognized marine aquarium authors and experts including:

Coral â€"œ Eric Borneman
Marine Fish - Scott Michael
Marine Invertebrates - Daniel Knop
Marine Macro Images - Anthony Calfo

Not only will your entries be judged by these distinguished experts, but each winner (three from each category) will be awarded a cash prize as well as have their winning photograph and their name included in the 2008 MASNA Calendar on sale at MACNA XIX this September.

The cash prizes for each category will be:
1st Place - $100
2nd Place - $50
3rd Place - $25

The deadline for submitting your entries is July 31th, 2007 (mailed submissions must be postmarked by 7/21/07).

All those who are either a current MASNA Individual member or a current member of a current MASNA Club can enter the contest for free! If you're not currently a member, then please consider joining MASNA for just $5 or one of over 40 MASNA clubs (listed at the end of the Photo Contest Forms).

NOTE: MONTHLY WINNERS IN REEF CENTRAL'S PHOTO CONTEST ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO ENTER THE MASNA PHOTO CONTEST

I have a question about the RC's monthly winners thing. Does that mean I can't enter my photographs that have won the monthly contest or that I can't compete at all? I'm guessing it just means that I can't enter the photographs that have won but I thought I would check.

I have two questions...

Is the contest only for US citizen, or people from abroad as well?

Is it 10 (as marked in words, on rule #7) or 20 (as marked in numbers) images allowed?

Bonjour! MASNA accepts membership from folks anywhere in the world, so international folks are most welcome to enter.

Our apologies for the typo in the rules. Each person can enter up to 20 photos across all categories. We have asked our Webmaster to update the text.

Greg is indeed eligible to enter, if we could just talk him into it! Even if he did, no one person can sweep all the prizes, there is plenty of room of others.

I don't know that MASNA has ever thought about sponsoring a reef video contest, but it is an interesting idea.
