Master Electronic Recirculation pumps Recommendation

Roger,

I am looking for a recommendation on which recirculation pump to use for my new tank.

The main tank will be in the living room 84x36x25H tank, but I am going to have the sump in the basement. It is a standard height basement. What pump would you recommend.

So, it is going in the basement? We don't have basements here so I don't know standard basement height, can you give me a height from the sump to the top of the tank?

If I had to take an educated guess, somewhere between 15-18 feet max. I won't know more till I get into the new house which I close on 7-14-06.

The 1073.14 is the best for higher head pressures. These pumps are great if your focus is low energy consumption but no pump in these flow ranges is going to be absolutely silent. I don't have an application for such pumps so I have limited real world experience. People tell me they are noisy but they also say they are quieter than other pumps in their flow class so it is a tough call. I think most people expect they will be dead silent and that they aren't but compared to a big air cooled pump they aren't bad. My peeves with this pump are that the shaft is ceramic and it is as thick as a pencil and you could never break it with your hands. However, when you add the leverage of the housing they are easily broken disassembling the pump until you learn how to do it and the shaft is a $25 part. The 1073.09 has a very basic electric start system that can be annoying if you will turn the pump off occasionally since it starts and stops repeatedly until the impeller starts spinning the right way. The 1073.14 and .16 don't do this. Their start up system is more sophisticated. I think they are a decent pump and they definitely save electricity but they are not perfect.
