Master/slave mode with battery backup

I am considering altering my MP40's to a master/slave mode to try and get a gyre going. I have two opposite each other and one on the back wall. I also have a battery backup I have yet to set up. My original plan was to have one of the Mp40's up higher in the tank and have it connected to the battery back up so it would run and pull bubbles for more O2 if the power ran out. If I set up the master/slave option would the battery backup need to be hooked to the master? Would it then run all three Vortechs in a power outage leading to less overall time the battery backup would last?

slojmn,

In the event of a power outage any VorTech you have connected to the battery backup will switch to a constant speed. That said, the master and slave relationship you program will not be in effect while in battery backup mode. We intentionally designed it this way to allow as much battery life as possible.
