mated pairs

hello, reefers
I have a question for you. I have a mated pair of SwissGuard Basslets(SGB), in my 65, in the tank I also have a fire fish and a 7yo gold striped maroon clown. Latley the maroon has been digging alot around one of my plates and biteing me alot. I have never seen her act agressivly towards my SGB and in general has no interest in them what so ever. Now my question is if I were to get a small male clown to pair with my female do you think she would calm down or would this push her into super agression mode? And is it possible to have 2 pairs of fish in one tank? I have had the clown since 05(high school) so i am kinda attached.

In my experiences with clowns, when a pair becomes a spawning pair, they become very aggressive.

I had a pair of pink skunks (( suppose to be a lot less aggressive than maroons )), that became holy terrors once they started spawning. When I added a 3rd dwarf angel to that tank I had more issues from the clowns than I did from the existing dwarfs. In fact they indirectly killed by Golden dwarf angel.

It was amazing how peaceful that tank became after I sold them.

Similar experience with my clowns, once they mature and starts spawning, they become super aggressive. Mine claimed 1/4 of my 180 gallon tank and chases anyone that swims to that side of the tank. I ended up trading them in.
