Reefing is an addiction!

Well to start off, ive been in the hobby for around 12 years. I had a successful 180 gallon reef tank that I took down in 2010 because I was bored with the hobby. I still came on RC and enjoyed reading about tanks, waiting for that spark to come back to me....then in 2014 I had a friend offer me a 250 gallon tank complete except for the stand and canopy. I talked with the wife and she said Go for it! So needless to say here I am once again growing those colored sticks. The tank had LEDS and a dosing pump, so naturally I ditched that stuff and went old school with Radiums and T5s. Then added a calcium reactor and a kalk reactor.
I did a steel stand and built my skin for my stand and just finished up with my canopy. I have to thank my local buddies here for helping me along. Im glad to be back!

Thanks! The front flips up on the canopy it's on a piano hinge. I had an open top design with four of the hydra 52s on a light rail but the LEDs just were not growing the corals like I thought they should be. When I switched to MH and T5 I got tired of the blue glare in the adacent room, so I decided to build the canopy. Im so glad I did! I will post a pic of it flipped up so you can see.

Nice tank. What kind of parrot/bird is next to it? I noticed the large cage. We had to move our daughters African Grey - darn thing wouldn't leave the tank alone.

Well thank you
One is a Blue and Gold Macaw

And one of these!
An Umbrella Cockatoo

Very nice, to both. Always wanted a Macaw. The Grey is more than enough and she is a handful :) Thanks for sharing both feathers and the tank. Good to see I'm not the only one wrapping our pets gifts - lol.

Yep we wrapped up a toy for him. He is like a dog. No really, he is. Runs around the house and cuddles with our black lab. Glad I could share. I have a soft spot for animals!

Yep sure are! All my fish got ich, so i have had them in a hospital tank in the garage for over a month and i lost almost all of my sps corals. That pretty much sums up the last few months. Corals are starting to look better but now i have an algae outbreak that I'm treating with carbon and gfo. It's just part of the hobby. I've learned over the years that sometimes things just go south. Im just rolling with it. It will get better......it has too!

Love the Deep Demention tanks. I have the 200dd. And those birds are awesome
