maxi jet mod???

i was thinking maby we could moding a maxijet with propellors, kinda like a tunze at a meeting some time?
could this be arranged? who would be intrested?

I am doing it now. I read both of those posts. I got the impeller apart. Fairly easy. Now I am ordering the prop, shaft, and hitting Petsmart with the dog and kids to get the tubing and Home Depot to get the glue.

Can anyone with a Tunze see if there's a patent number on the box or product literature? A patent lawyer student in my firm said the information is open to the public and that he can get the patent info with the number.
 
There are posts on ReefCentral. According to some folks who have done double props on the maxijet 900/1200 have gotten flows up to 1400gph. Yes, 1400gph. I think someone said 1600.

I asked about a 90 gallon tank, they said 2 of the mod. No way these are going into a 20 gallono nano.

Someone on the boards will make the whole thing for you if you send him the impeller assembly for 20.00.

I am working on it now. My props come in on Thursday.
 
so rich, you are doing this mod at your meeting? it is pretty much out of the question for me to have a meeting at my house. that parents won't let me. hows the bio-ball mod coming? i just stole some from my dads pond.
 
No, I won't be attending the meeting. It is very simple. Once you get over the fact that you are trashing the impellor, you basically create a shaft that is attached to the magnet. On the end of that shaft is a single or double propeller. I decide to pass on the bioball mod.

I was going to do on a cpr backpak, but I found the venturi mod works well enough. I will be starting on a DIY Deltec, so I don't really need to go that route.

I'm currently working on the MaxiJet mod as well, GROSSR's right, it's a fairly simple mod. The hardest part is knowing what parts you need and gathering them together.
 
i was wondering the same thing. what ventri mod? i did the bio ball mod and there seems to be no differance.

and one more question where you guys got the rigid air tubing with 1/8OD???

you can get tubing from a hobby shop.
probably get the propellers from them too, not sure if they would have the pitch you would want.
its worth a try.
