Had some parts laying around and really wanted to use the MJ1200 with the Hydor Magnet. Now I know there is a great Mod out there for the Hydor Koralia 4 using the surelfow propleller and I have actually tried this and the flow is tremendous. The only problem I had was I wanted to use it with a Wave Maker and the start up with the Koralia was really loud. The KoralIa looks better but here is what I did for a few bucks. Not the prettiest but works great and like the Koralia the Flow is insane. What I did was went to the hardware store and picked up a 1/4 quick connect coupling and super glued it to the MJ. Give it a good amount from back to front and Let it cure for 24 hr's. Just make sure you dont get glue on the release function of the quick connect so you can take the MJ off if you like. Would like to paint the unit so the white does not show up so much against the black MJ. Yea I know most people would let them grow with coraline but im am kind of OCD with my tanks and like to give them a vinegar bath every couple of months.
Any ideas on the painting please let me know what I could use.

COOL idea!. I will have to try it. One thing I would suggest is that the CA glue won't hold for long since the pump does create vibration. I would suggest using the CA glue to glue the coupling in place. Once dry, I would use couple of nylon tie straps to hold it in place.

I wouldn't even bother painting it. just leave it as is and coraline and algae will grow over it.

NICE!!!!!!!!
I love my MJ modded!!!!!! I have koralias but they dont compare to the flow from my MJ 1200s!!!!
They do sell a sure grip for the MJ but I think its nearly $50 alone!!!!

Hey thanks for the feedback and also the tip using the zip ties. A little more protection if it would happend to vibrate off. Would not be good if it came off thats for sure.
Thanks again.

Neat idea, my biggest issue has been with the Koralia side of things, the few that I've had all have snapped at the little plastic dodad. Granted I was repositioning them at the time, but its not like its a reinforced piece.

Out of curiosity can you get that Koralia magnet though without butchering what's otherwise a perfectly fine pump?

Hey Mike. Thanks for the reply. Not sure what you mean about butchering the pump? You mean the ugly eye sore that is created mounting the quick connect? It actually doesn't look that bad.

I think he means buying a magnet by itself instead of a Koralia pump and tossing the pump part...
