Maxima clam question

Just purchased a small blue maxima clam. I noticed in the bag that it had a white fuzzy protrusion coming out of the bottom. Is that the byssal?

Usually they go in the bag with the bysal attached to some pieces of rubble or a small rock. I would be rather concerned if it isn't attached to something.

Most likely. It will attach again quickly if health.

You can make a disc out of 2-part putty if you want it to have a stable base.

Can you post a picture of the clam? Has it attached to anything yet?
