maxima clam question

I've been raising a maxima clam in my tank for my brother for the past three months until he felt that his water conditions were stable. I recently gave it back to him about a week ago.

Yesturday he called me and said that there was a very noticable gap in which you can see the rock through the clam. This morning as I came by to pick it up to try to save the clam, it was curled up pretty bad.

I looked at his other corals and I've noticed that they are doing very well and thriving. He's got mainly soft corals like frogspawn, leathers, acros.

I'm curious as to why the clam didnt do well. It's currently in my tank.

water condition for the brother's tank

salinity 1.024
pH 8.2
temp 78
alkalinity havent performed a test yet
Ca no test yet.

Lighting is dual 175 with power pc's in his tank

two possible things that I can think of

1) it is a bulb issue where he needs to replace his lighting

2) Ca level may be low but I doubt that since he supplements on a regular basis.

I checked closely the clam to see if something was irritating it and I cant find anything on it. Just in case I did a fresh water dip to relieve it of anything.

I think I might just end up losing this one, but thought I'd try to save it.

My other clams in my tank are doing very well for the past couple of months. They are under dula 250W HQI Ushios and I suppliment with DT every other day and have a calcium reactor running.

My water conditions are

pH 8.2 day 8.0 nite
Ca 424ppm
Alk 9 dKH
salinity 1.024
temp 80

thanks in advance for any suggestion

the clam is 3.5 inches. My brother says he's been feeding it.

In anycase, it is here. And I know I feed it. I placed it in a bowl this morning with tank water, before I introduced it back into the tank and, and placed a capful of DT in there to leave it alone. Not sure if it took it up, but its back in the tank at this point.

It's under my MH. So the only thing I think I can do at this point is wait and continue what I'm doing.

I'm just checking to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

may be u should directly feed it in the tank using a 2 liter bottle since moving it around too much can cause further stress

i worry that the current that I have is too high for it.

I have two pumps moving 700gph. I can try that and just turn off the pumps during the feeding session.
