i have a squamossa and 1 maxima clam in my 96 gallon tank now. the squammy is about 6 inches while the maxima is only about 3 inches. i want to get another maxima but i need to know the maximum length of them. i know the squammy gets very large and i am not too sure about the size of maximas. i will be upgrading in a few years to a 200 + gallon tank.

thanks andrew

they grow to the same size, a maximum of ~18" in the ocean but closer to 12" in captivity. the squamosa just grows a lot faster than the maxima. generally a maxima will grow 1" - 2" in a year while a squamosa can grow between 1 3/4" " - 3 1/2" per year up until sexual maturity, then growth slows greatly in both clams.
