maxima DERASA

What do you think about the maxima derasa? I will buy one in the next few weeks and I wanted to know:
Am I obliged to put it on the sand? I have a banded goby that enjoy playing in the sand bed... Is it dangerous for the clam if it receives sand on it? Could I put it on rocks?

Does the derasa clam groes quickly?

It would be my first clam so I want something easy to begin with. My aquarium has MH lighting, a deltec skimmer and it is 1 year old.

Do you have any useful tips or advices to keep a healthy derasa?

Thanks!!

If you mean a derasa, and not a maxima/derasa hybrid of some sort, the best spot would be on the sand bed- they tend to hop around a bit before settling. They don't grow as quickly as others, especially t. gigas. I don't think any clam is "easy to begin with," because they all need really great water and strong light; but if your tank has been up and going for a year and is stable, and your parameters are stable, great. You'll need to watch calcium and alkalinity balances; it's surprising how fast a healthy clam can suck calcium out of the water. Good luck!
