Likely a crocea, but honestly it's hard to say from that photo.

Get it up on the rocks. It is a boring clam and needs lots of light.

I have a couple of questions on you answer about the clam...
1. why did you say get it up in the rocks? and at what level .. low, medium, or high in the rocks?

2. what do you mean by they are a boring clam? and they need lots of light?

I just got one for my 50 gal tank... i placed it in the rocks ... low in the tank... and my lighting is a 250 se 20k mh bulb... can you clear your statement up alittle, please.... and thanks

1. The colors are dull/washed out - get him up under more light. Croceas are rock dwellers very often found high up on reefs

2. It will surely live low in a 50g under a 250 watt 20k, but that is a relatively low par bulb, so if you get him up high, he may he happier and develop better color.

Crocea's are very light demanding and most of the time need to be up higher on reef, hence puting up on rocks.

If the mantle is reaching up for more light then move it up slowly utill it seems happy.

All clams can sit on a sand bottom if lighting and flow ect. is right.
