Maxima Question

Can maximas go directly in the sand or do they need to be mounted to a rock. I have a sand bed that is around 2 inches deep.

Depending on your lighting they can go anywhere in your tank..but they do like to attach to something solid..a flat piece of rock or a large flat shell will do..hth

Ok Thanks. I have all of mine in the sand bed and they seem to do ok. But I just got a new one that is pretty large, I'll have to go find something to mount it to.

It is a good idea to put them on something. Maximas are rock dwelling clams. Also the byssal opening is a very vulnerable spot on the maxima and is like an open door for predators, etc. If you are going to place it in the sand, just put it on frag plug or a buried rock. Something it can latch on to... and post pics.
