Hey everyone, I have a Maxspect 120 16K on my 60 cube, It is mounted with the legs. I have Kenya Tree, GSP, PSP, Branching Hammer and a couple Chalices....they seem to be doing fine. Tank has been stable, perameters all within reef specs.... thing is I have tried an encrusting Monti and a Ora Valida and both are losing color. I stated them in the sand and slowly week by week moved them up...only got to midway in the tank before they started losing color. This is my current timer scenario:

0800 0-0
1200 34-50
1600 50-63
1900 38-50
2100 0-1
2300 0-0

Any suggestions? Is the light too intense? Thanks in advance

When you say loosing color, are they going white, or more like a brown? I personally run my 160 at higher values than you do (though not by tons), and so far have not had any sps's struggle with the light intensity.

Personally I think your light starving them. As you can see in my sig what my equipment is and my light schedule is as follows:

TP1 08:00 Ch1 0% Ch2 0%
TP2 09:30 Ch1 40% Ch2 65%
TP3 11:30 Ch1 65% Ch2 90%
TP4 18:30 Ch1 65% Ch2 90%
TP5 20:30 Ch1 40% Ch2 65%
TP6 22:00 Ch1 0% Ch2 0%

80% of my sps are about a 12-18" or so from the lights.
<--------this one here in my avatar is about 12" or so from the light directly under a puck.

I have a four month old frag of plating monti that is growing like a weed. Actually all my corals are, especially the spongodes setosa, three different encrusting montis. I did brown out an acro with low setting and short duration. Since cranking up I am extremely pleased.

My tank is 24" deep and the razors hang 8" above the water surface.
