I'm very pleased. The alternating mode is a waste as there is no power when the motor is ran in reverse, due to the shape of the fins. It's extremely powerful and mine is quiet to boot. Price is reasonable imo. I am still running my mp40 on reef crest at very low power just to provide some variable flow conditions in the tank but I don't think it's necessary. I will say I'm glad I went with this model and didn't wait for the recommended, smaller unit. I think this one isn't too much for a 4' tank. Now we will see how it holds up ;-)
