A few weeks ago my cheesy starter led strip lights started to blink off non. I researched and finally ordered the new Maxspect R5 48" 300 watt light.
I have had them on my 90 gal lps tank for 2 weeks. They have 5 clusters with 120 leds in 5 colors. Great quality, sturdy, good appearance, solid mount legs although the dinky screws I had to put in to mount legs were like performing surgery to get in. The price was a little steep at $899.00 but I wanted real quality lights. It fits my 90 gal tank perfect. Had to loose the wood canopy but I like it better open now that I see it. I already have the Maxspect gyro pump ( great pump ) so I splurged. The lights are great. Easy to set up, ( I did not buy the WiFi box) heard to many reviews of app problems. so I program manually. Super easy to do. Comes pre loaded with 4 presets for lps , sps, reef etc. set the clock, pick your tank type and your done. It also has a manual setting so you can set every hour of the day based on your needs. I have 4 channels so it's very adjustable. Great glimmer without looking cheesy. Deep penitration in the tank. Very sleek looking, my coral are starting to take off and have come to life. I didn't realize how much beauty I was missing out on with the old lights. The old strip leds were only 65 watt 1 channel so I had to break the new light in little by little. It's been a few weeks and everything is bling. Except when your cat unplugs your heater and the water temp, drops to 62 degrees and everything goes into hibernation and you can't figure out why because my gauge was so covered in coralite. Great lights, would def buy again. We'll see how long they last. To be determined.
