maxspect vs. aqua illuminations nano

I currently have a maxspect generation 1 60 w LED light oveer my 15 in. cube. I have been running this light for almost 3 years, and I am looking to upgarde. I like the look of the AI nano (35 w)

Will this be an upgrade? I see the watts are far less, but I understand the LED's are better now than they were 3 years ago. Let me know! thanks

It looks to be controlled the same way the current razors are, just half the size of the 20 inch version. Basically just one of the sections.

How much more efficient are the new LED's in terms of PAR vs the LED of 3 years ago? I really like the look of the AI nano, just not sure how much of an upgrade it will be from my G1 maxspect.

I think the nano is three years old by now, you would get more bang for your buck from a Razor.

Think of LEDs like computers every two years they double in efficency.

Thought I'd give an update. I ended up going with the AI sol. Got it set up with the controller today. This thing is sweet! Its a whole new kinda bright for my tank! I could not find anything about a clean hanging kit, but ended up finding this and it looks pretty good IMO. I have it hung about 9in above the tank. Getting my corals acclimated. I'm gonna go through a long acclimation (I have it maxed out at 15% now).

Excuse the old holes in the ceiling, I need to fix them still.

Last pic is with the lunar cycle on. Wh-0 Bl-1 Ry-1. Thinking about increasing the power on it a little bit.

should have gone with razor...ai sol doesnt have actinic led it's outdated to the new led systems coming out with actinics

I just upgraded from AI SOL to a razor, major upgrade.

Man, you guys are downers!
I've had sols over a mixed reef for a year and a half and have had great results. Clams softies and sps.
Yes, they have no lower nm spectrum, but they are a fantastic light and I'm sure that AI will have 400-450 nm leds available as an upgrade fairly soon

you could upgrade form sol to vega for 200~250$ using same module but changing the gut
