I'm making water for the initial filling of my tank. I'm using an old 30g cube tank to hold water that I had broken down 6 years ago.

Has some dried green algae still on the glass that I cleaned decently but it's still here and there.

Any chance that those spores are somehow still alive and will work it's way into the new system?

I'm starting with dry rock and want to keep as much nuisance crap out of the tank as possible.

Then don't mix your water in a dirty container.

Clean the old tank first or use something else.

Yeah I hear ya.

Im cleaned it out pretty good...just I'm sure there's a tiny bit still in the corners or somewhere in there...be impossible to get it 100% clean without autoclaving it LOL.

I'll just use some 5g buckets...the cube was nice though cause I could mix 30g saltwater up at a time.

If it has been broke down that long and dry the whole time then i wouldn't worry about it. Its dead, just hanging onto the glass.

Agreed. There's no way it would still be alive. That's like using seaweed salad in the tank to feed your fish and it spreading from that. I don't think there's any risk. Worst comes to worst just soak it in 3% bleach water (4 oz per gallon) for 24 hours.
