May Meeting

Reefing On My Mind
Team RC
The May meeting is going to be hosted by Janie (planejane)... She is in FL right now, but I'm sure more details will come once she gets back in town... May 16 is the third Saturday...

Janie lives in Friendsville, so keep that in mind when making travel arrangements... :)

I'm guessing I'm out.........but you never know, I may need an adult beverage 6 days before the wedding ;)......plus I can crash at the future inlaws since they live on the same street.

Well I'm not sure if I'm going to get to make it to any meetings anymore, which is the one thing that STINKS about working weekends at the Reef. Boo.

Can we make Soccer Taco on Saturday night a monthly after-meeting occurrence? Minus all the expensive booze? But not minus the margaritas. I need those.

I'm back! The entire trip wast a bust, returned early due to illness. It was eye opening to see how depressed it is in SW Florida.

About the may meeting:

Time ??? Doesn't matter to me, you all decide.

Food ??? Right now I'm leaning toward pulled pork and/or roast beef .

Topic ??? I guess it will be the Frag swap. When those with experience see my pitiful attmpt at creating a reef tank I'm sure you'll think of a lot of topics to talk about.

Janie~ Sorry your trip was a bust... :( Hope you feel better now...

Do you want to start the meeting around 12 or 1 for an afternoon meeting like usual? or would you prefer and evening time???

Both pulled pork and roast beef sound good... You have to make that Broccoli/Bacon stuff again though... ;) At least this is my formal request...

Oh, and Dana has to make her stuffed Jalapenos...

We can do another Topic besides the Frag Swap... Just pick out something that you are interested in learning about...

I doubt that your reef is a pitiful attempt... We always go over the host's tank and lend any suggestions if you are having a problem with something, or just admire it if you are perfectly content with things... I was having a problem with algae that I chalked up to not having time to take care of my tank and keep up with maintenance... It took me about 2 months to discover my DI resin had been depleted... I'm sure if I had hosted a meeting in the meanwhile, someone would have offered that suggestion, and I could have recovered more quickly... The nice thing about the reef club is sharing our experiences so that those new to the hobby can learn from the experiences of those that have been around a while and not make the same mistakes... :)

Randy; Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'm feeling better now.

Whatever time you all want is good for me. Come early, stay late!

One thing I would like to discuss is water chemistry and supplementing.

I'm adding Broccoli salad to my menu just for you Randy.

Matt, you MUST bring those dumplings if you come.

Kim, no excuses, be there. We'll help you ease the pre-wedding tensions!

I'm voting for an evening meeting, of course, but since it's kinda far out I bet you'd get better attendance with a noonish meeting.

So don't worry about me.

Boo...no apple dumplings.

People might get lost in the dark... lol ;)

YEAH BROCCOLI SALAD!!!!! :D Ohhhh, and Apple Dumplings!!! I'm glad the ETRC is starting to get their priorities straight again... :p

Janie~ So are you wanting something on Calcium supplementation??? Kinda like Ca, Alk, and Mg balances??? Or were you thinking more Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, and Phosphate control???

Well, Broccoli is high in calcium and vitamin C, so I can see adding some for stonies and zoas. Very creative of you!

Randy.... Ca, Mg,& Alk are what I had in mind. Things like when, what, and how to dose, acceptable ranges. Also, trace elements, and things like vitamins, amino acids, or " Wonder Supplements" ( according to the manufacturers) , benefical or a waste of money.?

Joel.... Now I know why my Goldfish haven't had any colds, must be the broccoli I give them.
