May set up a FOWLR, need input

Ok so I have this dilemma, I have 90g mixed reef, and I love it, and my wife loves the fish, she isn't all that impressed by corals. Now i also have a 75gal freshwater tank, and the main fish, a Ram, in there is nearing the end range of his natural life expectancy. Now the 75 has the same footprint as the 90, and once The Ram passes on, I may break down the freshwater tank, I can easily re-home the other fish.
Now this is where i see opportunity, My wife has made it clear, NO MORE TANKS, there is a strict 2 tank limit.(not including sumps or qts that are hidden under the stand)
Now every time we are at the LFS she sees fish she likes, that are either not reef safe, or will get too large for my current tank, I keep saying that 4ft is not enough swimming space, and that many of the fish she likes require a minimum 6 foot. Well tonight out of no-where while buying a new sofa she hinted that a 6 foot tank could be possible now. She wanted a newer smaller sofa, and that was her way of getting me on board. So after we bought the sofa, i tried to bring the 6footer back to conversation, and well lets say she needs some convincing.
So I have to come up with a plan i can try to sell her on. This is what i know, She really wants a Dogface Puffer. She wants an eel of some kind. I want the 6 foot mixed reef, then i can get a nice tang or angel she wants. If i break down the 75, I could move my 90 to that spot and get a 180 for where my reef is. I could then make the 90 as a FOWLR. I could then clean the 75 and use it for a sump for the new 180. Having a 180reef, and 90 FOWLR would give me more options for getting wanted fish.
Now there is where i need the help, my 90 has 20 gallons of water in the sump, so it is 110 gallons in volume, and my skimmer is for 120. Would that 90 be adequate for a Dogface, and maybe a snowflake eel? Because if it is It will help me convince my wife. But if its not I need to come up with a much better plan.
What are some viable options for a 90g Fowlr? I know The Puffer and an eel are wanted, but Lions and triggers are also interesting. I have read not to mix them though.
Thanks, and any advice here is welcomed.:frog:

Well I'm not sure if the puffer would outgrow the 90 (they get BIG) but you could probably be okay with a smaller one for a while. The snowflake will eventually get VERY aggressive from what I have read.

There are lots of other fish you could with but the puffer would mess with lions.

I am not sure if triggers and puffers are okay together...but I doubt a docile trigger would be any issues other than outgrowing the tank. Unfortunately a predator tank is hard to pull off with 4' as well.

It sounds viable though

Thanks i know very little at this point on some of these fish, because i knew that they were outright not safe for my reef. Its just hard to find solid info, because there are so many conflicting stories. I see loads of how snowflakes are easy, but i find that in time they get mean. I hear some triggers are pure evil, but that some are not as bad as others.
Also I know with some fish its not total volume, but swim space thats important, but then for some space isn't to important its volume because they are messy eaters.
I Am not looking to have many fish, but i would like it if the residents get along. I looked at Live Aquaria for some tank reqs as an idea. They have a SFE as 50, a type of dogface puffer at 100, but i can swear i've seen dwarf dogfaces for sale before(like 12 years ago when i lived in Kansas not sure how true it was, i didn't have salt water tanks then.) And a Niger trigger i think at 70.
Anyway it goes, having an idea would help. In this hobby I know you cant get everything you want in the same tank. But if i can say to my wife that you get to pick this combo of fish you want or this combo of fish you like, it will make her more likely to give approval on any project. For awhile she wanted me to get a Dragon moray that was $800.

Honestly I'd love to see you do a tank with just the dragon moray...that's a fish I've always wanted to keep but I just can't ever devote an entire tank to a single fish...maybe a fuge or a sump but not a whole system!

I imagine the puffer will get too big for the 90 but there are lots of other cool puffers that would work. I love love love blue spotted puffers. Their coloration is insane. I'm sure someone with a puffer will chime in here.
