Last year Aron made a build thread for a sweet, shallow rimless tank and I wanted it the second I saw it. After him and Mateo turned it into something even more awesome, a piece of art really, I wanted it even worse.
Fast forward to yesterday
As many of you know I am getting ready to move up to the city to the north and while I havent found a new house yet, I have sold mine and have to get the heck out of here pretty soon. Its likely that we will be in an apartment for a while so I did what anybody in my situation would do and decided to buy a new tank. I know it sounds crazy but I dont want to lug around my big 90 gallon to an apartment then a couple months later to a house. The plan is to have a tank ready so that when we get to phoenix I can have it up and running then just do a transfer of live stock with no real down time.
I Jump on to rc and see that Aron is selling his tank and decide to take the opportunity to down size and up cool. I get wifey on board with the idea, which was easy as she loved the smaller shallow tank idea and is crazy about the pictures. We spend the afternoon over at Aron's tearing the tank down. Aron and his dad are kind enough to help with the delivery. And all of a sudden I have a sweet new tank!
I spent about 4 hours cleaning up the tank and sump, scraping the glass and scrubbing everything out and cleaning the cabinet etc"¦ I made this puppy shine. Then I bring it into the garage on my floor dolly and go get wifey to help me put it on to the cabinet. She comes out and we are getting ready to lift it up when my dog runs up and gets in the way. So while Im putting the dog in the house wifey leans over to look at the tank and bumps the floor dolly sending the tank crashing down on it bulkhead shattering the bottom piece of glass. :headwallblue:
I felt so bad for her, it was a total freak accident and she took it way worse then I did. I think she liked the tank even more than I did.
I was about as close as I have come to being done with the hobby when I saw the glass on the floor. I literally was thinking to myself "maybe I will just get a hedgehog or something" I still am avoiding going out to my garage.
So I have now destroyed something beautiful, wasted a bunch of time/money and still need to figure out a tank moving solution.
