Noticed tonight that my clowns of 2yrs are biting at a huge old turbo snail shell. Does this mean they are ready to breed and when?? also i noticed a little spout on the bottom of the male. also posted in the breeding section but want local imput.

I think that they might be getting ready breed soon. They seem to both be cleaning off that shell pretty vigorously, which is something I read that they do to their selected spot before they spawn.
Good Luck with them if they do breed!

There are few things I would do to start getting ready.

1) Get some Rotifers and start culturing them. You do not need to culture live phyto, the instant stuff from reef nutrition works great.
2) Put a tile near the anemone and spot that they are trying to clean. Getting them to lay eggs on a tile will make it a lot easier to move the eggs into a separate tank without having to try to catch the babies after they hatch.

sanjay.

I've had half a clay pot in the tank for months they dont' see, to notice it. it has gron algae on it so do you think i should replace with the other half that is brand new? thanks guys for the imput

YOu need to put it right where they are cleaning. They are not go to go far to search for a better surface.

ok kinda tough, but will see what i can do, those gsp are in the way and on the other side of the lta i have the claypot. i think one of the issue's is the lta as it takes up alot of room. do you think it will sting the eggs or are they resistant also. at night the lta gets smaller and that shell is exsposed but during the day the shell is covered.

here is a pic, excuse the gha other story . the lta is starting to sting the gsp more and more each day so they will have to be moved at some point.

Well its good that they laid them on the snail shell. You can remove it, when they are ready to hatch, by day 8 or 9.

Updates, thought lastnight was the night, most are silver and also it was the 8th night. Updated pics one from 7th and one from lastnight. will try my luck tonight. Tank is not at 80 till mid day so I read that can delay hatching. right now I don't have any food. coming next day air tomorrow from florida. Larva tank is ready to go tho.
