Mayday Mayday!!

Not to go against what Brandon said (he is a pretty smart cookie ;)) or get way off track but if you throw food into a tank you are cooking rock in it messes up what you are trying to do? I totally have not read up on it so I may be WAYYYY off but I thought the purpose of the rock by itself, in the dark was so the bacteria would have "nothing" to feed off of but the bad stuff built up in the rocks? I know you would feel bad about starving all the pods and worms to death but I have read where somehow they survive an extended cooking with nothing to eat. Just thought I would ask so if you wanted to cook it for real it was done right :) Like mentioned, mine is just kinda in a half cooking situation because I am not 100% sure the right way to do it.

One thing I can tell ya is have done more wronge than right in this hobby so don't get discouraged if it don't go as smooth as you hope. Make yourself do it right the first time and you will be much happier in the end

Example:.... I just HAD to but a fish instead of the ammonia kit the salesperson really recomended I get instead but I was overanxiouse to get cool things and not waste money on the tecnical stuff! So needless to say I have learned the hard way

To be honest Angela, I don't think ANYONE knows a 100% right way to do it. ;)

Angela is right. Cooking is probably to get all of the bad and/or dead stuff off.

I'm assuming that since your rock came out of a running tank that there may not be a ton of dead or bad stuff in it and that the bacteria may need some food. Then again, they may completely not need any.

You see, Angela and I are from the same neck of the woods (don't tell anybody!). So we're both pretty smart cookies. ;)
