McCosker's Flasher Wrasse?

HI! So I am in the planning process for my 28 gallon bowfront reef tank. So I am trying to narrow my stocking list down and I know I want to add a wrasse. I originally thought of a six line but have heard so many negative comments about them so I started looking for another wrasse. I was interested in the McCosker's Flasher Wrasse but like many other fish every website I go to says something different for the gallons it requires. I have read they need 10, 20, 30, or 50 gallons. So I don't know if I should get it or not... Any ideas? anyone have one?
Thanks!

I have one in a 75 gallon and is a very good citizen. Very docile fish. I am not sure on the tank size recomendation I think 50 gallon is what I've seen most site recomendation.

I just checked live aquaria and they recommend 50g. I like to use this site for a ball park figure and tank size for live stock. I am sure someone else would chime in with a different opinion.

thats what I was going with too maybe I'll go for a pygmy wrasse or a different flasher wrasse that live aquaria recommends for 30 gallons

I just want on live aquaria and they are at least two similar fish that you could get that are recommended for a 30 gallon.
Good luck I hope you can put something together that you are happy with.

Flashers swim a LOT when they're flashing. I had one in a 3 ft tank & he had to stop short constantly when he was flashing for the ladies. I personally wouldn't recommend one in a 28 gallon tank.

I wanted to offer a thought regarding this fish (P. mccoskeri)... It seems like they are in pretty high demand and the supply is (of course) limited. There are numerous other Paracheilinus wrasses that look similar and regularly are substituted by wholesalers. Most people can't distinguish the subtle differences. Some don't really care.

If you are set on finding a true P. mccoskeri, be sure to order from a reputable source.

As others have mentioned, keeping a flasher wrasse in a 28 gallon tank is probably not wise. One of the Wetmorella spp. wrasses may be more appropriate.
I like this one.

+1! my carpenter's is constantly swimming. the require a lot of room to move! if you want a 6-line i would add it last to the tank and you should be fine. most have problems when adding it first and then trying to add another fish.
